La Mère Poulard all-butter biscuits, to discover and to give as a gift

A La Mère Poulard biscuit box brings together all-butter recipes made a few kilometres from Mont-Saint-Michel: shortbreads, palets, large galettes, petit-beurres, cookies. Assortments range from 375 g to 1.045 kg, and each recipe also exists alone, in a box or half-box, at a weight specific to each form.

Our assortments are not composed randomly: each reference has its list. This page details what each box contains, recipe by recipe and weight by weight.

Since 1888, the house has perpetuated the recipes of Annette Poulard, cook at the Mont-Saint-Michel inn, without changing the base: butter, eggs, flour.

Choosing Your Biscuit Box

By Assortment

The 750g tin boxcombines four flavours: Butter Shortbread, Caramel Shortbread, Chocolate Chip Shortbread, and Butter Palet. This box is for shortbread lovers, with a palet to offer a change in texture.

The 375g cardboard boxgoes in the other direction and brings together all six of the house's flavours: plain shortbread, caramel shortbread, chocolate chip shortbread, plain palet, lemon palet, and all-chocolate palet. Six flavours versus four in the 750g tin box: this is the assortment to choose when you don't know the recipient's preferences.

The large 1.045kg assortmentbrings together the four historic biscuits, one recipe per shape: shortbread, palet, large galette, petit beurre.

The 375g Haute Couture boxcomes in three duos: plain shortbread and lemon palet, caramel shortbread and plain palet, chocolate chip shortbread and lemon palet.

By Recipe, When You Want Just One

Each recipe is available in a tin boxor half box, with a weight that varies by recipe: 500g and 250g for shortbread and palet, 472.5g and 202.5g for the large galette, 507.5g and 217.5g for the petit beurre, 400g and 200g for cookies.

Shortbreadis fluted, golden, and perforated, with a sandy and crispy texture. The paletis round and thick, with a sandy and crumbly texture. The large galetteis oval and crispy. The petit beurreis square, with fifty teeth, and bears the inscription of Mont-Saint-Michel. Shortbread, palet, and the large galette bear the inscription 1888.

By Box Material

The boxes and half-boxes are made of tin, regardless of their weight, including the Haute Couture box: the box can be kept once the biscuits are shared. Only the cardboard box is an exception, being lighter to carry.

Biscuit Composition

Wheat flour grown in France, butter, sugar, eggs, salt. Butter makes up 20 to 24% of shortbread and palets, 24% of the large galette, 14% of the petit beurre.

Our recipes contain no preservatives or artificial flavours, and no palm oil. All products contain gluten, milk, and eggs; some contain soy. The complete list can be found on each product sheet and on the packaging.
